Robby Knowles takes over as promoter
Longtime media expert Robby Knowles takes over as Airborne Park Speedway promoter La
version française ici As Airborne Park Speedway's 2018 season comes to an end, a new chapter is about to begin for this track historical. The 2019 season will see longtime track media pundit Robby Knowles take the reins as promoter of Airborne Park Speedway. With the departure of John Walker as promoter, the longtime owners asked Knowles to succeed Walker in the role of promoter. Robby was kind enough to accept the offer and is already getting down to business in his new role as promoter.
The road traveled before becoming a promoter of the track began 23 years ago. Robby watched his first race when he was four months old. His father, Rick Knowles, was the track announcer at the time and the family joined him in the VIP area when he announced the races in the mid 90s. his father and his uncle Rob with their local show “Motor Sports Magazine” which was broadcast on a local channel. Robby started by doing the various tasks related to filming, later he prepared the interviews of the pilots and the play-by-play action. In 2012, Robby's father sadly passed away. Robby, however, decides to try to keep his father's dream alive and he takes over for two years. Knowles will continue as announcer of the track until he was promoted to director of media. I asked Robby, as he started in his new role, if there are any major changes coming for next season. “Plans are currently in the works for next season. I had meetings with the team of advisors. The basic plan is to stick with the Modified 358 and Sportsman as the two DIRTcar divisions. We're going to be looking at doing a few events with the Pro Stock class for this season,” says Knowles. Good news for racing fans. The choice to have Robby Knowles as the new promoter of the track is a good choice.
