Brianna Ladouceur - One of the pioneers of the next generation In the 45-year history of Super DIRT Week, Brianna Ladouceur was the first woman to win this major sporting event in 2016. It was the highlight of her career to date. We are far from the era of Go-Kart races in which she began her career. Most 5 year olds were skating, playing their favorite sport in a local sports league. It was the same for Brianna. She was a passionate and seasoned soccer player, but what differentiated her from young people her age was that she also put on her helmet to have fun on the local Kart track once or twice. per week. Brianna was able to maintain this hectic pace for several years, that is to say playing soccer and racing her go-kart. During these years, she has won numerous Karting championships in Cornwall and Brockville. In late 2013, she was invited to test drive a race car to compete in the Cornwall Motor Speedway Enduro. In 2014, Brianna Ladouceur saw herself facing a new challenge with a new car in order to compete in the Sportsman DIRT class. This excited him. Brianna and with the team led by her father Mike Ladouceur; he has set achievable goals for her. Going from karting to Sportsman was a big leap for Brianna. She was, however, guided by her father and Carey Terrance and later by Dale Plank…one race at a time. Despite the limited schedule that year, Brianna took several lead positions to finally get her first win at Brockville Ontario Speedway. The team finished 17th overall in the DIRTcar Sportsman Series in the inaugural year in 2014 and earned Rookie of the Year. Brianna continued her momentum improving her skills in 2015 earning 3 wins, a 5th place finish in the Mohawk Raceway Track Championship and finishing 8th in DIRTcar Series points. In 2016, it was a full racing schedule with the team competing in the DIRTcar series and full time at Mohawk and Cornwall tracks. Her mentor Dale Plank continued to guide her to improve her skills. As the season progressed, Brianna Ladouceur picked up 4 more wins along the way. The team finished 6th in DIRTcar Series points and 5th in the Mohawk Raceway Track Championship. They will once again compete weekly at Mohawk and Cornwall tracks, as well as in the DIRTcar series. The biggest change in 2017 will be to see Brianna Ladouceur competing in a limited number of races in the Modified 358 class throughout the season, while preparing her future plans. With this added challenge this year, Brianna will have a full season of racing and will no doubt visit the winner's circle once again in 2017.
