Also, there will be the final feature for Mini Stocks from the rained-out September 5 event. This will be one action-packed night of racing, which get’s underway at 6:00
October 2-3 will see the speedway light up and it will be a great race weekend. With the best 358 Modified drivers in the country slated to race this event, it will be the race of the year. Drivers like Super DIRTcar champions Mat Williamson, last year’s winner David Herbert, Steve Bernier, with track champion Ryan Arbuthnot and local racer Kyle Dingwall will battle it out for the coveted win.
Last year’s edition of the Fall Nationals saw David Herbert drive away from the field, coming home with the biggest win of his career. Hebert of St-Damase, Quebec, has confirmed that he will be back this year to defend his title. Herbert who has 17 seasons of racing in the Modified division is ready for the Fall Nationals.
David explained, “I am to go for the win. I have a really good car along with one of the best teams in the country. The team ONE working hard for each and every race. Not only are we looking to win the race, but also take home the Hoosier 358 championship, paying a good fund to win this series. Going into the Fall Nationals, we are close in points with Steve Bernier and Mike Maresca for the title and to win the Nationals would cap off the season for our team.”
Mat Williamson will also be on hand for this year’s Dirt Outlaw Apparel Fall Nationals and will bring his A-game to the track. Williamson, who has eleven wins to date this season, will be tough as usual.
Mat stated, “We’re excited about the race, and Brockville has put up big money, which should bring everyone there. It will, for sure, will be a tough race.”
Track champion Ryan Arbuthnot will have his game plan set to take on the other drivers. Ryan a tough, fast driver will hit the clay at the Brockville Ontario Speedway to win.
Ryan stated, “It’s all about putting together a smooth night right from qualifying. There will be many fast cars capable of winning and starting near the front will be super important. Hebert won it last year and he is always a contender and you always have to be watching out for Williamson as he usually sets the bar pretty high every night.”
Steve Bernier, who won a feature race at the Brockville Ontario Speedway earlier this season, is set to bring his number 25 car in the hopes of repeating his success. Bernier who is always a contender is eager to get the car back into victory lane and will pull out all the stops for this event.
Steve mentioned, “This race will be tough for sure, with Mat Williamson and David Herbert who have been running very well all year. but there are also drivers Like Luke Whitteker or Corey Wheeler who have also been running fast this season. We will continue with the same engine program as it worked well earlier this season, but will have to definitely get the perfect car set up as there will be no room for error running against these drivers.”
It will be much the same in the Sportsman ranks with drivers like Johnathon Ferguson, Jarrett Herbison, Jessica Power, Ryan Stabler, and Brad Rouse, just to mention a few. The Sportsman division is so close this season, any of the top drivers can win.
Local Sportsman driver Johnathon Ferguson, who has been having a good season so far picking up four wins, will have some advantage racing his home town track. Johnathon, however, doesn’t take things for granted, as he explained, “I think it’s hard to say who will be the toughest competition. There are just so many good cars but I think Jarrett Herbison is going be tough to beat. Jarrett has been very good this year. Cédric Gauvreau has also been very good this season and is a tough racer. If any of the drivers from out west come down like Brad Rouse or James Friesen, these guys are always good and will make things even harder to win. We are going to try and qualify for the 358 race on Saturday as well! So for our team, it will be a busy weekend of racing.”
This year’s Fall Nationals is sponsored by Dirt Outlaw Apparel and will have a bit of a different feel due to the COVID -19 restrictions. Normally the DIRTcar Big Blocks would be the main headline of the show, but with the border closed, the Big Block show was cancelled. Besides, there will be restrictions in place for fans in the stands.
The Brockville Ontario Speedway, built-in 1969, has seen numerous owners and changes over the years, but Paul and Cheryl Kirkland have transformed this track into one of the best dirt tracks in the Northeast. Paul introduced the idea of the Fall Nationals some 12 years ago and it has gone into one of the must-attend races anywhere in the Fall. However, over those years they have never come up against what we are all experiencing this year with the pandemic.
Here we are just weeks away from the biggest show of this season for the Brockville Ontario Speedway. Yes, there will be a limit of 100 spectators. Not to despair, camping, somewhat limited, will be available so fans can still get the sound and smell of the racing going on, in the virtual world.
As for the racing community, this will be the biggest show of the season for them. This will be the most anticipated race of the 2020 season.
Dirt Outlaw Apparel and Nature’s reality botanical blends are just two of the long list of sponsors for this year’s race. Paul and Cheryl have been humbled by the support of local business and the racing community who have all chipped into the prize fund to make this year Dirt Outlaw Apparel Fall Nationals a reality. Paul and Cheryl thank everyone for their support.
