The Doctor has kept his focus in Volusia The version française ici With Volusia's DIRTcar Nationals in the record books, it was truly an incredible race for Tim McCreadie who won two finals. One was World of Outlaws Late Model and the other was Modified Big Block. But quietly this week, in the background, there was an old master who worked hard. While all eyes were focused on the usual heroes of the day, the Doctor and Chris Gennarelli calmly worked their magic with the famous 27j car. The Shakleton Auto & Truck Parts crew set off for Volusia Speedway on January 31 as they traveled through the hills of New York State. Twelve days later, Danny found himself on the podium. While the first two evenings were canceled due to bad weather, the 27j team was eager to start on the track. Danny qualified 4th in the timed times and worked his way to a 2nd place finish in the final, which isn't bad for this diligent little team.
Night 4 saw the Doctor once again in his true form and picked up another podium finish, this time in 3rd place. The day started with intense activity as team principal Chris Gennarelli explained: “While checking the valve clearances we came across a broken rocker arm, so the rush to change the engine was lively. With only a few hours left before the timed times started and with the help of Steven Deinhandt and his friends, we managed to fit the new engine and there was still time left. » Photo credit: Don SimpsonThe timed times went well and the Doctor brought the 27d back to first place during his qualification. In the final, Danny started in the middle of the field, but worked his way up to finish with another podium finish. The veteran was also proclaimed the "hard charger" of this final. For the last evening of racing, the results were inconclusive for the 27j team. All was well during the timed times and the Doctor finished 5th in his qualifying, setting the stage for the final. The 27d once again started mid-pack for the 50-lap final. Right off the start, the Doctor started to make progress, but on lap 14 he took a hard hit from behind, damaging the rear shock mount. Chris explains: “We tried to repair the damage during the laps under the yellow flag, but it was not successful. The 27j fought for the remainder of the race, crossing the finish line in 15th place. “It's not the result we were looking for,” explained Chris, “but coming home second in the championship is really good. I think we showed we can compete at a high level this year, we had a good car at Volusia, George and Tami gave me everything I needed to make that happen. I believe we will have a great season ahead. “Overall it was a good event for the 27j team to adjust to and if it's a prelude to things to come,
