Short Track Racing is Back at RPM Speedway – DTD Exclusive

By DON SIMPSON

Saturday, August 8, will see the long-awaited return of racing at RPM Speedway, one of the best little short tracks in the Northeast.

On the schedule will be the return of the 358 Modifieds plus the Sportsman division. Also on the card that night will be the Mod-Lites, Slingshots and the Sport Compacts.

COVID-19 has definitely put a damper on racing this season. In recent weeks, the Quebec Government has started to slowly allow the re-opening of the province along with sporting events. This of course is great news for race fans, however, there is a caveat as there are only 250 spectators allowed at the present time.

RPM is one of those fast tracks that is always challenging for drivers, giving fans the perfect venue to view the race on-site or online, via the RPM live broadcasting in HD, where you won’t miss any of the action in the comforts of your home. The event can be purchased by visiting the RPM Web site at https://lerpmspeedway.com.

Track Spokesperson Charles – Olivier Lampron explains: “We are very excited about opening up RPM. I think it’s going to be a great night, especially since we’re welcoming 250 fans for this one event. The event will see the Modifieds back in action and will run for 50 laps, Sportsman for 30, Mod-Lites for 20, Sport Compact for 20, and the Slingshots. It will surely be a very busy night of racing. The race will also be available online. This is the first time ever that we’ll do a live broadcast from RPM, so we are definitely excited about that as well for the fans at home.”

Charles went on to explain: “The track will be welcoming 250 fans for this event. The plan so far for RPM is to run this Saturday, August 8, and also on Saturday, August 22. Those are the two dates that we know so far. Tickets for Saturday will be available to purchase online starting Tuesday night.”

Set your clocks for this Saturday as the stars of the short track get set to race the ¼ mile Dirt oval. See drivers like track champion David Herbart, Mario Clair, Steve Bernard, Steve Bernier, and Michael Parent battle for the first win of the season at RPM Speedway.

Pre-Race broadcasting starts at 5:30 with hot laps for all classes starting shortly after.
