Brockville Ontario Speedway (BOS) Set to Rev Things up with the Return of the 358 Modifieds – DTD Exclusive
By DON SIMPSON
Saturday, September 5, will see the return of the 358 Modifieds to challenge for the top prize of $2,500.
This will be the biggest race so far this season at the historic speedway, brought to you by 1000 Islands Toyota, Gerald K Tallman Holdings Ltd., and Tackaberry G. & Sons Construction Co Ltd, 1000 Island RV, Billings Automotive. Racing gets underway at 7 p.m., with pit gates opening at 4:00 p.m.
With the 2020 edition of the Brockville Fall Nationals just weeks away on Friday, October 2, and Saturday, October 3, this will be one of the last chances for teams to race and dial their cars to the 3/8-mile dirt track before the Nationals weekend.
With the total purse now up to $2,500 for the Modified division, this will draw a large contingent of drivers to challenge for the win as this is by far the largest purse to date. This night will also hold the Sportsman Modifieds, Rookie Sportsman, Street Stock, Mini Stocks, and the very popular Vintage series.
The Crate Sprint Car division is scheduled that night as well. Paul and Cheryl Kirkland and the team at the BOS are going forward to support and build this division as a regular class in 2021. It has been unfortunate that this division made its debut under the shadow of a pandemic, which has led to low car counts. Paul is committed to building up this class and will work hard to make sure that the 602 Crate Sprint Cars are here to stay.
Once again there will be a limited number of fans allowed because of the COVID restrictions, but there has been a recent push by some tracks to allow fan numbers to increase to a percentage of total seating. No decision has been made by the Ontario Government.
