The 2018 Season Kicks off at the 4th Annual Fulton Speedways Highbank Holdup Weekend — April 27-28

By DON SIMPSON

Recently Volusia Speedway, in Barberville, Florida, held the first non-point’s race of the 2018 racing season in February, a great shakedown event before the summer portion of the racing season, which gets underway at the “Highbank Holdup Weekend” at the Fulton Speedway. This spectacular weekend of racing, in its fourth year, is just a few weeks away. It has become synonymous as the official start of the summer racing season.

As in previous years, many of the top DIRT drivers and teams from the Northeastern United States and Canada will compete in the Super DIRTcar series along with the DIRTcar Sportsman series

Saturday’s race is the biggest show of the weekend, with some of the top drivers like Billy Decker, a three-time winner of this event, along with six-time Super DIRTcar series champion Matt Sheppard and NASCAR Truck series driver Stewart Friesen. They will race it out on the tight 3/8th-mile oval and fans are sure to see tough racing through the 100-lap race as they fight to capture the Highbank Holdup 100 crown along with the prize money.

Saturday’s racing will also see the opening rounds for points at the Fulton Speedway for the Sportsman and Late Models divisions.

Also on hand, that weekend will be the popular Empire Super Sprints series hitting the high banks of Fulton Speedway on Friday, April 27. With top Sprint Car drivers like seven-time ESS Champion Steve Poirier, defending champions Jason Barney and the hard-charging Paul Kinney, these drivers will fend off the young up and coming drivers like Matt Billings and Alex Vigneault. This is surely going to be a good show for fans. Friday’s race will also host the 50 lap DIRTcar Sportsman series event with some of the best Sportsman drivers on hand such as the 2017 series Champion Dave Marcuccilli, along with Ron Davis III, Rocky Warner, Martin Pelletier, Jessica Power and a host more of top Sportsman drivers. There will also be Hot Laps for the Big Block Modifieds and Late Models to cap off the night.

This year’s edition of the Highbank Holdup is certainly to be the one race to mark on your calendar.
