Four Times the Charm for Glen Ridge Motorsports Park – DTD Exclusive

As two major racing events were taking place on Sunday, May 26 Memorial Day, I decided to venture to something a little different and lease hectic and take in the season opener at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park.
Located just on the outskirts of Fultonville, N.Y., perched on a hilltop, looking over the valley below, the track has hosted just about every top dirt track driver in the Northeast at one time or another.
For the last few weeks, Glen Ridge has tried to get their season underway, however, like many other tracks, “The Ridge,” affectingly known, has been rained out for the last four attempts.
Promoter Butch Hazzard explained: “We have tried four times to get the season underway but there has been so much rain that we have had to cancel, making a huge delay on getting the racing season underway. Even today, we are still dealing with saturated grounds. Some fans got bogged down and we had to assist in getting them on their way home. “
With great weather on their side, “The Ridge” finally got their season underway with the “Heroes Honored 30” in remembrance of the men and women who have or are serving the country. Rocky Warner of Gloversville, N.Y., won the feature race. Warner, who was challenged early by Andrew Buff in the 92 car, began to slowly pull away from the pack and eventually got to win unchallenged, giving Warner his 23rd Sportsman win.
The track is a ¼-mile oval, providing some great side-by-side racing and the Pro-Stock class gave fans some of the night’s best action. The feature saw Luke Horning battle it out with Ivan Joslin, followed by Steve Cosselman. Horning who was pressed by Joslin the full 20 laps, defiantly earned the win as he had to fight off several challenges by Joslin in the 49 car. But in the end, Luke Horning in the 2H car came home with the win.

Mini Stocks DOHC: won by John Napoli
Mini Stock SOHC: won by Wayne Russell JR.
All-Star Sr. Slingshot: won by Danny Ballard
Junior Slingshot: won by Brock Pikerous
Glen Ridge is one of those fast tight ovals that really gives fans a great overall racing experience. With the pits surrounding the main grandstands along with the action on the track, there is no shortage of entertainment for the fans.
As the season’s schedule starts to unfold, fans at Glen Ridge will get to see some fastest, and tightest racing action around and this coming weekend the CRSA Sprint Car tour comes to town which is surly going to be a crowd pleaser.
