Brockville’s Fall National Set to Light up the Night – October 2-3 – DTD Exclusive

By DON SIMPSON

The Brockville Ontario Speedway’s Fall Nationals is back and set to get underway Friday, October 2, when the DIRTcar Sportsman gets things rolling with a 50-lap race. Saturday, October 3, will see the DIRTcar 358 Modifieds hit the track for 100 laps of sheer excitement. Two full days of exciting racing brought to you by Outlaw Dirt Apparel.

Day one of the 2020 edition of the Brockville’s Fall Nationals gets underway Friday, October 2, with the DIRTcar Sportsman Modified (50-laps), Street Stocks (25 laps), and the Vintage Class (25 laps).

Day two, Saturday, October 3, will see the 358 DIRTcar Modifieds invade Brockville Speedway once again. The best 358 drivers in Canada will race it out on one of the trickiest 3/8-mile track in the Northeast. The Action Sprint Car Tour will also be making its presence known that night at the Fall Nationals for the first time. The Street Stocks will be back for a second night for a 25-lap race along with a 25-lap Mini Stocks feature.

This year’s Fall Nationals will have a bit of a different feel due to the COVID -19 restrictions. Normally the DIRTcar Big-Blocks would be the main headline of the show, but with the border closed, the Big-Block show was canceled.

Thankfully here in Canada, we have some of the best DIRTcar drivers within our own borders. One of those drivers just happens to be the current Super DIRTcar champion, Mat Williamson. He is not alone though to challenge the 100-lap race, with drivers like Steve Bernier, Chris Raabe, Corey Wheeler, Ryan Arbuthnot, and last year’s winner of the Brockville Ontario Fall Nationals David Hebert.

It is much the same in the Sportsman Modified division, where Canada is home to many top DIRTcar Sportsman drivers such as Even Racine, Alex Lajoie, Jonathan Ferguson, DIRTcar Sportsman Champion Brad Rouse.

The Brockville Ontario Speedway, built-in 1969, has seen and gone through many changes and challenges since then. Paul and Cheryl who have owned the track since 1994, transformed the speedway into one of the top tracks in the Northeast, however, over those years they have never come up against what we are all experiencing this year with the pandemic.

Thankfully Paul, Cheryl, and the team at Brockville moved forward once they received word from government officials to open.

So here we are just weeks away from the biggest show of this season at the Brockville Ontario Speedway. Yes, there will be a limit of 100 spectators at this time. The number of spectators may increase, depending on the situation of the pandemic.

As for the racing community, this will be the biggest show of the season for them. This will be the most anticipated race of the 2020 season.
